GROUND ZER0, New York, N.Y.--Sep 1, 2003-- Today is Labor Day.  It is celebrated on the first Monday in September and is a creation of the labor movement dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. To me, it the Labor of Vigilance Day.

The first Labor Day holiday  was celebrated in New York on Tuesday, September 5, 1882.  It wasn't until June 1894 that it was recognized as a national holiday.

For many, it is the last day of summer vacation.  School starts this coming week.   The time of respite is over.   The yoke of work clamps upon the neck, and the plow must be pulled through the furrows to turn the earth so it gives off its sweetest nutrients.
But there is another kind of labor we need to think through today.
It is the Labor of Vigilance.
It is a true Labor of Love.
The Labor of Vigilance is plowing the fields of Courage, Conviction and Right Actions for the Children's Children's Children.   It is about riding the fields of the Triad of Terrorism, the rocks of Fear, the weeds of Intimidation, and the fungi of Complacency.
       Vigilance is all about farming.
It is about keeping the fields rich so that the crops--our children, and their children--can grow strong and straight in the sunlight.
Terrorism is about darkening the skies and fouling the soil, polluting our minds with Fear, Intimidation and Complacency so our furrows, the seeds of our legacy, stunt in their growth and learn to cower in the Shadow of the Beast.

Labor today and everyday ....labor to be the best Sentinel of Vigilance you can be

Vigilance Farmers carry the Scythe of Truth.   Its job is to cut down the weeds of Terrorism trying to choke the children, the sprouts struggling to find their way through the earth's crust.
We, the Citizens and Parents of Vigilance, must keep our eyes and hearts open on Labor Day for the Beast of Terror.
It is the day we honor the Labor of Love...the Labor of Vigilance...which means our children will be safer, more secure with Courage, Conviction and Right Actions helping them fertilize their growth.
Labor today...labor to be the best Sentinel of Vigilance you can be.
Hold up the Pledge of Vigilance....it is your reward for believing in the rich crop of the future--the Future of Vigilance.
