Semper Vigilantes Logo Page

ARMBAND: The above logo represents the body of architecture of the Armband Logo.   The following are its elements:

1.)  Black Background:  A black material forms the base of the armband.   The material can be varied, from wool to linen or silk to simple cloth or an elastic Spandex.   The black background of the logo color represents the Nothingness of Terrorism.   It represents Terrorism’s Black Hole, in which all is sucked and nothing is left.   It symbolizes Fear, Intimidation and Complacency—the three tyrannies that Terrorism feeds upon.    It is used as a background because we can never forget that Terrorism lives among us—not only through the acts of violence that threaten our physical well being, but also by insidious nature, affecting our self-worth, or self-image, our faith, our belief, and our hope in the future.

LOGO ELEMENTS AND USE

2.) The Words:  SEMPER VIGILANTES

These are Latin words, which mean: Always Vigilant.   We consider them universal, and ask that any nation who uses the logo maintain the use of the Latin.  This creates consistency in the message delivered under the logo—that we must remain Always Vigilant.    The lettering we have selected is “gold.”   Gold is used because it is one of our most historic and revered precious metals.  We consider our children as precious as gold.   We ask that the color gold be used to describe all lettering on the armband, again, to achieve consistency

3.) The Date: 09-11-01

This date is used to represent the Terrorist attack not only on America, September 11, 2001, but also a declaration of war upon all civilized nations.   Since Terrorism does not respect any borders, and since the majority of peoples killed were at the World Trade Center where over eighty different citizens of various countries were killed, we consider this date a Declaration of War Date upon the world.   While each nation certainly has historic events of Terror in its particular history, we ask that 09-11-01 be used because those who died that day were members of the world community.  They were mothers, fathers, uncles, aunts, brothers, sisters, cousins, nephews and nieces representing a global body of souls.   DOTS VERSUS DASHES--Those who prefer to use a dot, slash or circle rather than a dash between the date 09-11-01 may feel free to do so.

4.) The National Flag:

In the example above, the United States Flag is utilized.   However, members of any nation may employ their country’s flag in place of the U.S. Flag.   The Flag in this example is rather large.  It causes the armband to be very tall.   Smaller flags may be utilized to make the armband more efficient and less cumbersome when wearing it.     The Flag symbolizes the unity of the individual to his or her nation of families.   It suggests that those who wear the armband be concerned with the protection of their children within the borders of that nation as well as from without.  We believe a Parent Of Vigilance needs to stand just as vigilant against oppressive governments within, as from Terrorism without.  The Flag of the Nation represents the rights of the children to be protected not only from Terrorism, but from governments seeking to take advantage of  their Constitutional  rights

5.) THE WORDS:  Unified, In Death & Life!

UNIFIED:    We believe the living and the dead were “unified” as one at 8:46a.m. the morning of September 11, 2001 when the first Terrorist plane crashed into the World Trade Center in New York City.   At that moment, we propose those who died transformed into Spartans or Spirits Of Vigilance, vowing to protect us and our children, and their children’s children from Fear, Intimidation and Complacency.   The word “unified” means “becoming one,” as we believe happened that day.

IN DEATH AND LIFE!   Unification results between the spirit of the parted and the life and of the living.   The more common way of stating this phrase is “Unified, In Life And Death!”   However, the last word in this phrase is Death.   The Spartans Of Vigilance did not die.  Through death they were given Life.  Our unification comes from the collection of the souls of the departed, unifying to form a body of Courage, Conviction and Action that our children and our children’s children can look to for strength.  Their spirits live.   Those who might be tempted to alter this expression need to consider the reasoning behind its present construction.  We think once you think it through, you will be satisfied with it as it is.

The Exclamation Point! —In completing the statement, Unified, In Death and Life! We have included an exclamation point for a variety of reasons.   An exclamation point is not a statement.  It is a commitment, a typographical vow, and a seal of authority upon the words.   Also, the exclamation point serves as a Sword Of Truth, a Sword of Vigilance.   If you study it you can see it is designed to fight off the complacency, intimidation and fear of Terrorism.  It is the Spartans Of Vigilance Sword.   Please include it in all usage of the phrase

TRANSLATION COMMENT:   The phrase: "Unified, In Death And Life” will require translation into various languages.  We ask that such translation be conducted with great respect for the meaning of the phrase as described above, and that the exclamation point be used, or its equivalent, in a language to ensure emphasis.
